Utilities - Director's Office  
 Welcome to the Director's Office

  The Director's Office provides leadership and direction for the Norfolk Department of Utilities.  Headed by Kristen Lentz, P.E., Director of Utilities, and Eric Tucker, Assistant Director. The department is comprised of over 370 employees in eight divisions who are dedicated to providing top quality drinking water, customer service and wastewater collection to Norfolk residents and busnesses. As a regional water purveyor, Norfolk Department of Utilities provides treated water to over 820,000 customers in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, local military facilities and portions of Chesapeake.

  The Department of Utilities is responsible for managing the Water Fund annual budget of approximately $79 million, the Wasterwater Fund annual budget of $25 million, and an annual Capital Improvement Program budget of approximately $63 million.

The Management Services Division works in close coordination with the Director’s Office. This division provides departmental administration by managing human resources, public relations and communications, special events, grants administration, training, and legislative tracking.

The team members act as liaisons between the department and its many customers, including residents, City Council, City management, employees, funding agencies, the media, and state and federal governments.
